. Is fighting for the voters, Florida citizens, to determine how much development should be allowed in their communities. They have been given a hard time by the developers. In Big Pine Key (as one example), they are going through this trouble, where they already have a master comp plan created, which took many years to agree upon, and was completed just last year. Today, planning board commissioner and chairperson James Cameron, is pushing to change the Big Pine Key comp plan to allow for bigger development in Big Pine Key. He's worried about the "property rights of the owner". The people have already said no, yet this is how developers go around comp plans and get approval for their develpments. FIRM - Fair Insurance Rates in Monroe Citizens Wind Insurance company was putting home owners "out of business" and forcing families to leave because they could not afford the rate hikes. FIRM was a coalition of citizens who fought back and have become one of the most successful grassroots organzations in Florida. They exposed so much irregularities with the insurance industry and won their first set of battles so that wind insurance rates were LOWERED as a result.
