In favor of annexing Wisteria.....

... Development isn't the problem. The miss - mal- and nonphesance of our city and county commissions is the problem. Let the developer pay an impact fee .. not just pay off the mayors and commissions. As an ocean junkyard and refuge for the lawless, Wisteria Island does little for anyone. If real impact fees had been negotiated with developers over the past 30 years, the city and county wouldn't be scrambling and strong-arming people into sewer hook-ups now. This county and city have been dysfunctional forever and the corrupt praetorian guard of the city and county (Building and Code Enforcement) have been unchecked by the two buffoons who are currently called mayor. It currently exists as a sanctioned shakedown. That Bend Overby has been given a well-paid unelected position as 'Special Master' after the citizens removed him from the bench is a daily insult from our elected elitists. How many more 'jobs' can the taxpayers afford ? Hiring at the school board, county and city of Key West has been out of control. If you want affordable housing there is an easy solution. Close the Key West Housing/Patronage Authority and sell off the units. To have the taxpayers support a workforce which is then housed in the very same property they 'maintain' is just a self fulfilling destiny .. an endless cycle of poverty. No one washes a rental car. And the Housing Authority housing it's bubbas and employees on the backs of taxpayers is a crime. These properties should be released for sale and converted to taxable privately owned property. The Housing Authority fiefdom serves only as piggish vehicle for the salaries and pensions of a few. In their current condition and at such low density they will quickly fill the shortage of affordable housing without the enforced socialism of the current bubba system.
