Key West, Florida NAS KEY WEST COMMAND LAUNCHES NEW NOISE COMPLAINT POLICY FOR LOCAL CITIZENS AFFECTED BY INCREASED NOISE LEVELS OVER THEIR NEIGHBORHOODS

Monroe County Citizens that complain to NAS Key West about dangerous noise levels and fly overs are now branded "Permanent Agitators" and are put on a special list.

Geiger Key and Stock Island Citizens calling in noise complaints yesterday were informed by the personnel at the NAS Key West Public Affairs office that they were being classified as "Permanent Agitators" for calling in their reports of dangerous jet noise levels over their homes. "I don't understand what is going on. I was told personally by Captain J R Brown, NAS Key West Commander, that I should be diligent in calling in every incident of Navy aircraft flying outside the AICUZ flight path. I never would have believed that I would be put on a "Special Permanent Agitator" list just for following Navy rules, stated Rosario "Russ" Scavelli, Geiger Key resident.

On Tuesday, October 2, Captain J. R. Brown, announced on Bill Becker's Morning Magazine's US1 Radio Show, the proper way to file noise complaints with NAS Key West. "File excessive noise events by calling the NAS Key West Public Affairs Office at 293-2425 or 293-2027." He did not mention the new NAS Key West policy of labeling concerned citizens as "Permanent Agitators" for following his rules and adding their names to the Navy's "special" lists.

"Considering NAS Key West's inability to comply with State and Government Environmental regulations, this new complaint policy confirms that they (the Navy) have the lowest regard for Monroe County citizens' Environmental and Health concerns. This new NAS Key West policy is the worst attempt yet at silencing anyone who challenges their illegal activities over our neighborhoods." remarked Paul S Caruso, STP Organizer.

The Citizens of Monroe County are mobilized!
