Email from Paul Caruso to Drew and Townsley
urging them to remove the agenda item for AICUZ at next planning commission meeting on January 8th emailed 1-3-08 Paul makes it clear that Senator Nelson will come to the Keys January 15th to address this very issue - they (Townsley and Drew) are forcing and speeding this issue! Then read below Paul's email, invitation to citizens to attend Senator Nelson's Town Hall Meeting |

| Hello Drew and Townsley, I have not heard from you regarding the decision for the removal of the NAS Key West AICUZ item on January 8, 2008. By continuing to pursue this item in an apparent dual track process, You are placing a financial hardship (as discussed in my previous letter) on Monroe County citizens as well as undermining the efforts of elected public officials working on the behalf of the constituents they represent.
In my letter, I outlined valid reasons for not allowing this item to move forward. I was hoping You and Drew would agree to postpone any movement on this subject until NAS Key West follows through with their promise to the BOCC (Dec. 5, 2007) with the new sound research on decibel readings. And the delivery of Environmental Impact Statements required by the DOD and requested by Commissioner Murphy to Senator Nelson. Senator Bill Nelson has hurriedly scheduled a TOWN HALL Meeting for January 15, 2008 in Key West to address this issue and the concerns of Monroe County Citizens (see below). Senator Nelson has been an integral force in getting answers from the Navy and considers this problem a priority. Please do not preempt his efforts with an end run to benefit the Navy. It would be embarrassing for our County to allow this agenda item to move forward in light of Senator Nelson's involvement in the AICUZ matter. Please do not embarrass our U.S. Senator in this way. Again, please withdraw this item today. Please advise. Paul S Caruso |

Letter to Citizens of the Keys - from Laura Fatovic
Regional Director for Senator Bill Nelson's office RE: Senator Bill Nelson will come to the Keys January 15th for a Town Hall Meeting |
| Good Afternoon Everyone,
First, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Laura Fatovic and I am the new regional director for Senator Bill Nelson, representing him in Miami-Dade and Monroe County. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and are ready to have a fantastic 2008. I am writing to you because Senator Nelson would like to hold a town hall meeting in Key West on Tuesday, January 15th. I am currently in the planning stages but what we know is that it will be held at 1:00pm. I am reaching out to you because you are all an integral part of the Key West and Monroe County community and I wanted you to be the first to be invited to this event. I would also like to encourage you to let your community know that the Senator is coming and is anxious to hear their views and answer their questions. It is of course, my hope that each of you will be able to attend as the Senator would really like to see all of you that day. Since I am still in the planning stages, I would welcome any suggestions or help any of you might be kind enough to offer. I understand there is not a whole lot of time between now and the 15th which is all the more reason to begin telling your friends and neighbors about it as soon as possible. I thank you in advance for your help and cooperation in planning and making this event even more successful than the last town hall held in Key West. Best, Laura I.
